Strange Cargo nominated for a Jeff Award for Best Ensemble

Strange Cargo: The Doom of the Demeter at City Lit Theatre was honored with a nomination for the 2025 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Awards for Best Ensemble in a non-equity production. The production also received several other nominations including Best Scenic Design (Ruby Lowe), Best Sound Design (Joe Griffin), Best Projection Design (DJ Douglass), and Best Artistic Specialization (Jeremiah Barr). The Jeff Awards will be announced on March 23, 2026 during the 52nd Jeff Awards Ceremony.

Full of creeping mystery, vibrant language, rich characters, sinister vanishings, violent sea storms, swashbuckling action, monstrous puppetry, and, of course, a boatload of terrors, this is the Dracula tale you’ve never seen.

The Two Noble Kinsmen, an unsettling and modern romance of thwarted desire, is Shakespeare's last known work.
